1. The short version

You can use everything — chat, calculators, lessons — without giving us any contact information.
So you can pick up where you left off, your chat conversations are saved on our servers, tied to an anonymous id stored in your browser (not your name). You can reopen or delete them anytime.
Your contact information is shared with the licensed mortgage provider only after you check the consent box yourself.

2. Saved conversations & optional accounts

Shrub saves your chat conversations so you can reopen them later (like a chat history). Without an account they are stored on our servers, keyed to a random, anonymous device id kept in your browser — not to your name or email. Anyone using that same browser can see those chats; clearing your browser storage disconnects them. If you create a free account (optional), your conversations are tied to your email instead so they sync across devices. You can delete any conversation, or all of them, anytime from the 📜 history panel in the chat. Please don't type Social Security numbers, account numbers, or full document contents into the chat.

If you created your account through a loan officer's website or their Shrub page, your account is associated with that officer so your questions, saved scenarios, and any meeting requests route to them. You can remove this association anytime by choosing unsubscribe in the account menu.

2a. Monthly newsletter

Account holders receive our monthly mortgage-market newsletter — market updates and education, sent on behalf of Mortgage Shrub and, where your account is associated with a loan officer, from that officer's Shrub. Every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe; unsubscribing stops the newsletter and also removes your loan-officer association. Unsubscribing never affects your ability to use Shrub.

3. How your messages are processed

Messages you type are sent to an AI model to answer you. Depending on the question, that may be a model on our own infrastructure or a trusted third-party AI service under its terms. Shrub is still in training and can be wrong sometimes — it's an educational tool, so please verify anything important with a licensed professional. Your saved conversations (section 2) are how we provide chat history; we protect that data with reasonable security measures appropriate to its sensitivity.

4. Leads and appointments (consent-first)

If — and only if — you submit the connect form with the consent box checked, we transmit your name, email, ZIP, optional phone, and timeframe, along with a consent record (what you agreed to and when), to the licensed mortgage provider below so they can contact you. Booking an appointment through the scheduling link is handled by that provider's scheduling service (e.g. Calendly) under its own privacy policy; your name and email are pre-filled only after your consent.

5. What we don't do

No sale of your personal information.
No contact information required to learn.
No lead is ever created without your affirmative consent.
No login or account required to learn — accounts are optional and free; without one, saved chats use an anonymous browser id, not your identity.

6. Your choices

Delete any saved conversation, or all of them, from the 📜 history panel anytime · clear your browser storage to disconnect this browser from its saved chats · say "no thanks" to connecting and Shrub keeps teaching · contact the provider above to ask about information you've submitted.

7. Changes

This policy may be updated; the effective date above will change when it is.
